Fertilizer with crabgrass preventer –

This is a granular product that is applied with a lawn type spreader. It has a combination of slow and quick release fertilizers. The quick release fertilizer is to give you that spring green-up and the slow release fertilizer is to extend the green color into the summer. The crabgrass preventer is a product that neutralizes crabgrass seeds as they start to germinate.

Crabgrass is a very unsightly grass-like weed that if left unchecked can overrun your lawn. Although crabgrass begins its life cycle in the spring, it thrives and is most unsightly during the hot summer months when it can take over your lawn. It is very important to stop crabgrass in the spring before it starts to grow, because after it starts to grow and mature it is extremely difficult to control.

Although the common name for this product is "pre-emergent crabgrass control," it also controls many weeds other than crabgrass like goosegrass, poa anna, foxtail, barnyard grass and dozens of others. A better name for this product is annual grass control.
